What are artifacts and why are they so important? Main rule: Capture all 4 artifacts to win the match. To do so you must localize the enemy artifact node, walk through it, head back to your own artifact node and walk through it. You can localize the enemy artifact node by using your radar in the lower part of the screen. More about the radar can be read in the radar section. The artifacts are visual on the artifact node, each placed on a pole connected to the Node. So if you don't see a big glowing ball, all artifacts owned by that teams artifact node is in play. How can you be so sure that you actually hold an artifact? There will be a yellow text flashing on the screen telling you to head back with the artifact. A good way to let your teammates know you have an artifact is to say it. Pressing v and then 3 and 1. This will make you scream "I've got an artifact!" to all your team mates. When you're carrying an artifact your whole character will start glowing like the artifact does. That will also show that you are an artifact carrier and you will be targeted by all enemies who see you. It is very important to make haste when you're heading back and try to have some support to cover you while you walk or drive back. This also covers for you, if you spot an enemy artifact carrier (player who carries an artifact in the color of your team), you should do your best to shoot him down and pick up the stolen artifact. When you pick it up, it automatically returns to your artifact node. It is important to know that an artifact carrier leaves a small trail which lasts for a few seconds so don't try to hide when you know someone's close behind you when you've got an artifact.. And if you're following an artifact carrier, try to keep up with the trail! What about energy and why is it so important? How do you get energy then? There are objects called generators which generate energy all the time. When a match starts, these are neutral meaning noone gains energy from them. If a player localizes it and hacks it (holding F close to the generator aiming on it) that team gains control of it and the generator will add a little energy every second to that team's energy pool. The amount of energy varies depending on how many players there are in the game. Here's a list of things that require energy: supplystations, vehicles, supplypacks, each players energy var, manned turrets, artifact nodes, deployable turrets, mines and tripmines. Deployable turrets can be deployed by the tech class, he can either deploy a normal turret or a rocket turret, each drain a specific amount of energy (while of course the rocket turret drains a little more because of its superior firepower). Here's an important piece of advice if you're new to xmp. Don't plant turrets if you don't have enough generators. For example, if your team has lost all generators but still got a pretty high energy level, DON'T plant more turrets. In fact pick them up instead or destroy them (since only the tech has the pick up ability). Otherwise your energy level will sink like a dead duck. After deployables are under control, start heading out to hack generators. Use the radar to navigate to them. You might want to use the voice action v, 2 and 2 to say "We need energy!". - Written by iddQd
